A BEAUTIFUL, RELAXING AND MOST COMPLETE RESORT IN SW PUERTO RICO!
My wife and I decided to book a long weekend stay at Copamarina after an 18 yr. hiatus. We used to come here often when our daughters were younger and with other families and we enjoyed it. Copamarina is as excellent as ever, with a new generation of management. I congratulate Alexandra Benus-Villano, the General Manager as well as the rest of the team for an excellent job of running this well maintained property, and keeping its high standards. The room we stayed (415) was big, clean and comfortable, facing the beautiful grounds and the beach. Also congratulations to the housekeeping department, particularly Michelle who kept our room spotless. We had a small glitch with the shower head and Michelle took care of it and called the maintenance Dept and within 15 minutes it was fixed. I read some of the reviews with negative comments on the mosquito problem (get mosquito repellent, since the property is within the Guanica Dry Forest Ecosystem and mangroves nearby) and that the beach is not as good (well walk to Caña Gorda Beach, only 200-300 meters next door). There's a lot to explore, especially for hikers and trekkers such as my wife and I, are the treks into the Guanica Dry Forest accessible from Rte. 333, such as Vereda Ballena, and Vereda Fuerte (to Fort Caprón). Vereda Cueva and Vereda Meseta. Recommended for mountain bikers and trail runners, as well; Do it early in the morning, since it gets very hot by late morning. If you're not the adventurous type you can always stay at the hotel and enjoy its grounds, beach/pool facilities and water sports. With regards to the food, restaurants, and its service, just need it to turn it up a notch more. We found that the menu at Alexandra's was rather limited and the service was sometimes spotty. At Las Palmas Café the food was more varied, however more healthy options would've been ideal. The staff at the restaurants is very courteous, but there seems to be a coordination/supervision issue. We would love to see the food at this property get back to its glorious days...it used to be a 'foodie' destination. The resort is ideal for families, couples or groups.
